Our Mission

Our mission is to help bridge the gap for those who have successfully completed an in-patient addiction recovery treatment program and are stepping down in their level of care. We want to provide applicants with financial assistance to go towards the first month of sober living housing expenses, so they can have time to get established with IOP, recovery meetings, employment, and living in a new setting.

About Us

We are Scott and Amy, two parents, who like so many others have been devastated by the loss of a loved one, due to addiction. We spent the majority of our son's addiction in silence, due to embarrassment and shame.  It’s only been since his passing that we have spoken to others about the last years of his life, hoping to reduce the stigma associated with this insidious disease, that acts as a tornado, destroying lives and families in its path.

Our son, Caleb, struggled for several years with his disease before passing in December of 2022. Caleb was admitted to several treatment centers while working hard to keep his sobriety after he was discharged to a lower level of care. During this period, we noticed some of the pitfalls that occurred in his recovery journey. The greatest challenge for him came after leaving the safe and controlled environment of the in-patient recovery center and moving to a much more independent, and less structured sober living environment. The immediate pressure to find employment, pay bills (both old and new), and still keep up with supporting his recovery by attending IOP, therapy, and meetings created many stressors.  These stressors almost always contributed to his relapses.

We would like to help alleviate some of that stress by providing financial assistance for the first month of sober living rent expenses. Our hope is to honor his life by helping others in need and provide hope as they continue on in their next steps of recovery.

Caleb's Bridge of Hope News Segment September 2024

Caleb's Story

The following is Caleb’s story (albeit very abbreviated), told by us, his parents, as we know it.  There are many details and events that we do not know, nor do we want to. The details of Caleb’s story are unknown to most, including family.  We’ve decided that now is the right time to share about his life, his struggle with addiction, and the tremendous impact it had on those who loved him. Names, other than immediate family, and those who have given permission, have been changed to protect their identities. To our family and friends, we do not want you to think differently of Caleb after reading this. The details will be hard to read and many may be shocked at some of the events that transpired. We have kept so many things private, until now. Our goal in sharing his story is to bring awareness to the disease of addiction and the devastating effects it has on both the addicted individual struggling, as well as their family.  Addiction is truly a family disease.

We recently switched to Zeffy as our fundraising platform. Zeffy charges ZERO fees for non-profits.  We want to make sure that every dollar donated goes back to helping  those who need it.  Also, with Zeffy, donors are able to set up a monthly donation or a one time gift. Donors are also able to  give in memory of someone.

On average, each monthly scholarship awarded will cost $500. Right now, we are relying 100% on donations and fundraisers.  We are only able to offer one scholarship per month, at this time. We are finding  that most grant opportunities require at least a two year minimum establishment for non- profits. Would you partner with us to help make CBOH, Inc. sustainable?

As always, we love and appreciate ALL of our supporters. Whether you have donated monetarily, shared our posts, or invited others to partner with us, it ALL matters.
